No matter what websites or blogs you look at, The Last Airbender gets crappy reviews.

Hollywood Chicago gave the film 2 out of 5 stars. Hyphen magazine proclaims it the “worst movie of the year.” Rotten Tomatoes awards the movie with a pathetic 6%. JoeBlo.com gives it a 1 out of 10 rating.

Yup—looks like it’s a pretty bad movie.

The Last Airbender is based on a previous animated series, and it stars Dev Patel from the critically acclaimed Slumdog Millionaire. While reading the plot review, I actually go confused. I’m 27 years old, and I like to think that I have at least an average amount of intelligence. If I can’t follow this complicated story, how are kids supposed to?

What I did get out of the plot synopsis is this: kids will special powers try to save the world.

One kid in particular is the “Avatar,” an “airbender” that can control all four of the earth’s elements. Lucky him. The young airbender goes on to kick some evil butt and take names. Good for him.

So what’s so crappy about the movie? According to Hollywood Chicago, “the casting was odd,” it’s not an easy story to follow, and it’s “aimless.” Rotten Tomatoes states: “Despite flashy special effects, The Last Airbender squanders the potential of its popular source material on an incomprehensible plot, laughable dialogue, and a joyless sense of detachment.”

I could go on and on, but I’ll wrap it all up by saying this: Don’t waste your money.
