Paranormal Activity was something of a disappointment for me. I’m a horror junkie, and when I watched the trailers for the movie, I was excited. It looked like a really creepy film that could possibly give me nightmares.

And then I watched the movie…and I was severely let down. There were a couple of jumpy moments, sure, but the only image that stuck with me after hitting “eject” on my DVD player was the image of the female lead (Katie Featherston) standing next to her bed, staring at her husband…for hours. That freaked me out. Everything else? Not so much.

So when I saw that the trailer for Paranormal Activity 2 was released, I immediately watched. Yes, it made me jump. But that may be just because of the scary sound effects. So let me set up the scene for you: we have security cameras in a family’s nice home. While focusing on the baby’s room, we see the family dog wigging out, barking down the hallway. And then the presumed mother of the family is standing all creepy-like in the doorway, much in the same posture that Featherston had in the first film.

Eh—I’ll wait until it comes out on DVD. You can all let me know what you think when the film hits theaters in October.
