It’s a big night for equal rights activists everywhere. CNN’s one-hour special, Gary and Tony Have a Baby, airs tonight, June 24, at 8:00 p.m. EST.

The special follows gay couple Gary Spino and Tony Brown as they go through the process to form a “traditional family”—one with two parents and a child. Gary and Tony Have a Baby will give viewers everywhere the opportunity to observe the struggles and obstacles that homosexual couples face when it comes to having a child.

The two men spend quite a bit of money hiring an egg donor as well as a surrogate, and they get to look forward to an abundance of courtroom battles. I believe—and hope—that this special will open the eyes of those out there who believe that homosexual couples don’t have the “right”, biologically or morally, to raise a child as their own.

I got even more excited about the special after watching the trailer. Gary and Tony are extremely likeable, and the excitement on their faces is evident. These two men are as happy and anxious as two new parents. I’m already crossing my fingers that everything works out well for them and their new baby.
