I have to tell you… as a mother, this video is downright terrifying. It’s also hilarious because I can tell you firsthand Orbit Gum would not be the answer to making everything okay if my eighteen-year-old daughter brought home the Social Studies teacher to take to prom.

“The Prom Date” is the first to come in the Orbit Gum online video campaign designed to clean up dirty situations. Starring Jason Batemen, Will Arnett, Rachel Harris and Aubrey Plaza, “The Prom Date” is one of those nasty situations no parent ever wants to discover their child in: teacher-student dating.

Overprotective parents argue with their baby girl on prom night about what time she should come home, and Mom is about to calm Dad with a piece of gum when the doorbell announces Skip’s arrival.

Both parents are horrified to learn that Skip is not some ordinary high school boy, but their daughter’s Social Studies teacher. Through talking with him, they discover Skip is quite the player, and this isn’t the first time he’s gotten involved with a student.

Popping a piece of Orbit into their mouths, the parents become calmer, assessing the situation from a whole new point of view. At least he’s got a steady job and his own car. Maybe they’ll get married. As the prom couple exit the house, Dad offers Skip a piece of Orbit Gum. He starts to chew, and by the time they reach the sidewalk, Skip realizes it might be better if he just escorts her to the prom and finds her a nice boy her own age.

Ahhhhh, refreshing Orbit Gum. It makes everything A-OK.
