72-year-old actor, James Farentino, was arrested on Sunday, June 13, on suspicion of battery when the alleged victim reported Farentino tried to physically remove them from his home. The victim made a citizen’s arrest, showing multiple bruises as evidence of the assault to police.

Reports about the victim vary, with The Associated Press claiming it was a man, while Zap2It and other online news sources state it was one of his wife’s female friends. Either way, an assault crime was committed, and police were called to the scene to investigate.

Farentino was taken into custody Sunday evening and held overnight before he was released Monday morning, June 14, on $20,000 bail. According to recent press, Farentino is scheduled to appear in court on July 8, 2010.

Well-known for his role in Dynasty during the 1980s, one of Farentino’s most recent roles was that of Dr.

Doug Ross’s (George Clooney) estranged father on the hit NBC hospital drama, ER.

This is not the first time Farentino has been in crime-related news. In 1983, the star was arrested for stalking former-girlfriend and daughter of famous crooner Frank Sinatra, Tina Sinatra.

The Tina Sinatra incident had a lasting negative impact on Farentino’s career, so imagine what kind of damages this latest stunt will incur.
