Will Smith confirmed that he and Tommy Lee Jones will reprise their roles as ‘J’ and ‘K’ in the upcoming Men in Black 3D sequel, which is slated for a May 25, 2012 release.

Directed by Barry Sonnefield, who also directed the first two films, Men in Black 3D will be released by Sony Pictures. The plot is set in the year 1969, so there’s some debate as to whether or not Sonnefield will be able to capture the time period authentically, but let’s face it… it’s Men in Black.

I love Will Smith. I pretty much watch everything he’s in, but you and I both know the Men in Black films are just good fun. Authenticity? Who needs it? Getting to watch Jones and Smith run around wiping memories with the flashy stick thing is half the fun.

Also listed among cast members on the IMDb production page are actors Rip Torn, Josh Brolin and Jermaine Clement.

While I was trolling around IMDb looking for news about this, I also discovered Smith is working on not one, but two sequels to Independence Day.

Really, Will Smith? Why don’t you just make a Fresh Prince movie while you’re at it? Because I’ll watch it, know what I’m sayin’? I happen to know Carlton (Alfonso Ribiera) could probably use the work. Last I saw him, he was hosting some wacky trivia card game on the Game Show Network.

Which has me wondering about the rest of the cast. Like where’s Uncle Phil and Aunt Viv? Hilary? Now I’ve just gone completely off topic, so I’m going to have to ask you to look at this little stick. *FLASH*

Yes, we were talking about Men in Black III, and it’s gonna be in 3D. Maybe by the time it comes out, we’ll all have magical 3D TVs in our homes. Wouldn’t that be something?
