It’s been an amazing first season for the cast of Glee, which has been named one of the most viewed shows in primetime. The season finale ended on a high note, with an inspirational tribute not only to Mr. Schuester, but to art and music teachers everywhere, who understand the struggles of fighting to maintain the programs the teach within their school district.
Glee as a series has touched hearts all across the country, focusing heavily on issues many teens and adults can relate to. One of the most popular issues being how hard it is to fit in sometimes when others don’t share your passion.
The thing that seems to make Glee popular, aside from the music, is the light-hearted and often comedic approach to those issues, exaggerating them without running them into the ground.
Schuester’s biggest rival in the school, cheer leading coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch,) is possibly one of the most absurd characters on television, and yet many tune in on a weekly basis just to see what she’ll do next in her quest to destroy Will Schuester and the glee club.
In their tribute to Mr. Schuester, the cast performed “To Sir, With Love,” from the 1967 film of the same name starring Sidney Poitier. A touching performance, it definitely inspired viewers to hold onto their love for Glee through the summer break, and has many anxious for season two to kick off.
