Chris Colfer, the cutey little guy who portrays Kurt Hummel on Fox’s hit musical series Glee, sat down to talk with Jimmy Fallon on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Monday night.

Among their discussion topics, Colfer shared the origin for his character on Glee, which came from the fact that he played Kurt in a production of The Sound of Music as a child. Series creator, Ryan Murphy, developed the character specifically for Colfer, giving him the last name Hummel because Murphy said Colfer reminded him of one of those adorable little Hummel figurines with the rosy cheeks.

Colfer also talked about his experience in high school as a morning cafeteria worker. Due to his father’s need to leave for work extremely early in the mornings, the boy spent a lot of time hanging around the empty cafeteria before school started.

Finally, the supervisor asked him to make himself useful, and he became a part-time employee.

The lunch ladies were his best friends in high school, which made me a little sad, but Colfer didn’t seem to mind. In fact, they were some of the nicest people he knew, and he still keeps in touch with them to this day.

How sweet is that?

I also thought it was pretty cute when Colfer talked about his sleepwalking foibles while on the Glee tour. Was it Ambien? No, Colfer thinks he may just be crazy.

I swear, Colfer is the cutest little guy on television. I just want to pinch his rosy little cheeks.
