So this past weekend was an exciting one as it was packed with awards shows like the MTV Movie Awards.  What happened in the news realm beyond those?

Poor Gary Coleman can’t catch a break even after his passing.  The latest news is that his funeral was canceled because his ex-wife, Shannon Price, is feuding with his estranged parents on the location of his burial plot.  Coleman’s parents are the legal custodians of the body since Coleman divorced Price in 2008, but Price is the executor of Coleman’s will, giving her say over what happens to the body.  If you remember, Price was the one who made the decision to terminate life support on her ex, causing a lot of speculation on whether or not she had the right.

For those who love Criminal Minds, you’ll be excited to know that the spin-off show finally has a name!  ABC decided to go with Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior and the show will star Forest Whitaker as Special Agent Sam Cooper.

It has a very Law & Order-ish feel, don’t you think?

Flash Forward fans are taking a page from Chuck fans’ play book by forming a flash mob to try and save the show, but unlike Chuck fans, they won’t dress as the characters or dance in public places.  Instead, these fans will be gathering in front of ABC network offices in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, and Atlanta on June 10 and stage their own blackout for two minutes and 17 seconds- just like the show.  Will you be participating?

Cherry Jones, who played the president on the recently ended 24, has removed her name from the Emmy ballots, despite her winning the award for Best Supporting Actress last year.  While her rep wasn’t available for comment, the speculation is that Jones is angry with network executives for how they treated her character this season, feeling that she didn’t have a proper story arc.  Also in Emmy news, Terry O’Quinn of Lost has put his name in the running for Best Supporting actor.  O’Quinn won the award in 2007 and removed his name from the ballot last year.

Lady Gaga may dip her foot into the realm of television.  The BBC is reportedly trying to coax the singer into playing a villain for the popular show Doctor Who.  Scriptwriter Gareth Roberts said, “The script might end up on screen one day with Lady Gaga, who will have fallen on hard times.”  Her excellent outfits may make her a good person for the role, but can she act?

That’s all for this weekend’s news!  Tune in next week to find out what happened while you were out enjoying the lovely June weather!
