While reporting the news Friday, I found a nifty little tidbit about the TV Critics Association’s nominees for the upcoming, 2010 TV Critics Awards. The funny thing I discovered is that a lot of people think the TV Critics Association is a little bit of a joke, but after discovering The Shat is up for a career achievement award this July, I decided they have to have some merit.

The TV Critics Association is a band of 200some television journalists from North America, who get to do cool stuff like press tours and preview upcoming shows so they can put their stamp of approval or disapproval on them. Even if Shatner doesn’t win the career achievement award, and really why wouldn’t he, TVCA obviously stamped him with their approval.

I wonder if that hurt.

In other Shatnews, CBS is still debating on whether they should change the name of their upcoming Twitter-inspired comedy, Shit My Dad Says. Apparently, there’s some hullabaloo about it becoming the raciest show title on television and its only competition at this time is Oxygen’s Dance Your Ass Off.

Personally, I think we’re all grown ups here. Okay, maybe we’re not, but at the end of the day, shit is just a word. When you put that much emphasis on one little word, it brings out all the crazies. Next thing you know, there will be TV burnings in the woods on the edge of town, and all because of that one word.

Maybe they could change it to Shat My Dad Says… That’s what I would do.

I’m heading up to Toronto in a few weeks, and while I’m there I am bugging my fiance to take me to the Canadian Walk of Fame just so I can take a picture of William Shatner’s star. It’s going to be awesome. Just you wait and see.

I write about The Shat every week here at Real TV Addict because I think he’s the bees knees, and I know you do too. My ultimate goal would be to sit down and interview him. Anyone have any thoughts on how I can make that possible? I’m not all cool and connected like the TVCA, but I could be. Yes, I could be.

Now, let’s finish this off with my favorite Priceline commercial featuring the Negotiator’s evil twin… You know you want to.
