If you missed the finale of one of the hottest reality shows on television Wednesday night, you missed Janet Jackson’s performance on American Idol. A lot of people are saying it was fantastic, but as I’ve never been a big Janet Jackson fan, I was indifferent and probably not the best person to ask how it went.
Jackson performed “Nothing,” the song she recorded for the soundtrack to Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too, before disappearing only to reemerge in a skin-tight, black body suit to belt out her 1986 hit “Nasty.”
You can get mad at me all you want, but I have to tell you, while she was singing “Nothing,” I kept nudging my fiance in the ribs and saying, “She sounds like Michael.
Doesn’t she sound like Michael?”
Growing up listening to the Jackson clan achieve number one hits over and over again through the 1980s and 1990s, I distinctly recall there being a big difference between Michael and Janet Jackson’s voices. Wednesday night on Idol, I could not hear that difference.
I know they’re brother and sister, but it was almost like she was channeling her brother through her voice, and I didn’t hear Janet in there at all. Maybe she always sounded like him, and I just never noticed before. I don’t know.

I was happy with the music, UNTIL Janet Jackson. Why did she need all those dancers? Maybe to distract us because her voice is going down the tubes.

I hope she didn't eat Jacko The Wacko. With all the drugs in him when he died, she wouldn't have been able to perform. I would have rather had Tatiana Del Toro perform and then maybe go into her drama queen act.

Guys, this is yet another thing to add to the list of proof. There is much reason to believe that Michael is still alive. Google it and/or search for videos about it on YouTube. It's insane!! Wouldn't it be something if he really was alive?? :)

Janet IS Michael.. Could you imagine......That would be the greatest plublicity stunt ever pulled on the human race. It would top Orson Wells saying aliens have landed in New Jersey...

That was Michael! She was lip syncing to Michael singing and had that huge microphone to hide her face while she had a microphone attached to the side of her head. Notice how much her voice changed when she was actually singing. This was definitely a track of him singing. Go back and watch the performance and you will believe.

You are totally right... I thought the same thing! At first I thought she was lip-synching one of his songs, or maybe just trying to sound like him, but they totally sounded alike. It was very strange. She seems so shy somehowand she did a good job, but the night was owned by Bret Michaels... he looked like he was having the time of his life and the joy was very apparent on his face.

I thought the exact same thing last night and called my husband to run in and listen [he was in another room]. By the time he came in, she was ending her performance, but I have been talking about ever since. I found this post by searching for comments that she sounded like Michael. I am glad to see that it was not just me!

Of course Janet was singing! PMSL! They are brother and sister so they do sound similar particularly on the track 'Nothing'. That was Janet singing. I find it incredible that you guys would actually believe it wasn't. lol

i dont see why everybody should agree to what the poster said. Janet and Micheal are siblings, they look alike, talk alike and have common features.if the poster had said the opposite, i beleive most of u would have channel ur comment to that line. Why can't we learn to speak our onw minds. Is a shame! i personally did not find anything wrong with her performance.If u beleive u can do better, get on stage and lets see how it will look like.is good to appreciate one's effort.

I have never heard so much bad mouth asshole in a while. They alway's say if you have nothing good to said then just keep your month closed. i know that people who have nothing good to say about anything or anybody. These are the people who alway has to knot anything anyone else does to make them feel good about what them can't do.
