Wednesday night is the big night for Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox, who faced off Tuesday night on American Idol. The final two each performed three songs during the hour-long lead up to the season finale, standing before the judges one last time.

It was an emotional night for both contestants, and even Simon Cowell, who made his final judgment before retiring from American Idol for good. Cowell joked about it being a ridiculous bit of love fest, but we all know tough guys like Cowell often cover up their emotions with jest to maintain their reputation.

So who will win American Idol this year? I’ll give you my prediction and my reasoning, and then I hope you’ll take a moment to chime in in the comments section with your opinion and prediction.

Crystal Bowersox is going to win it.

I’ve waffled back and forth between Bowersox and Dewyze these last few weeks, as both of them have shined. During Tuesday night’s performances, Dewyze did well, but his nerves and lack of confidence definitely shone through, especially as he sang the first of his three songs.

Bowersox, on the other hand, was confident, calm and composed as she took the stage. She talked with the audience and viewers, pumping them up in a way that will definitely win her some bonus votes.

I think both Bowersox and Dewyze are amazing performers, but we all know only one of them can win it. Tune in Wednesday night for the season finale, and hopefully for some word on who’s going to replace Simon Cowell next season. As if anyone can replace Simon, but they’re still going to try.
