I don’t care what anyone says, I love True Blood, and though I saw most of season two while it was airing, I have been anxiously awaiting the release of the season to DVD so I can devour it episode by episode.
The day is finally upon us! Tuesday, May 25, the second season hits stores, and it’s far more than a DVD set. According to USA Today, the Blu-ray edition of season two is being called “the most extensive Facebook-linking feature in a Blu-ray Disc so far.”
The discs will automatically updated viewers Facebook and Twitter statuses as they’re watching, with all twelve episodes containing at least eight scenes that will update to social networking sites. Upon loading the first disc into an Internet connected Blu-ray player, fans will be given an option to choose between the vampires, the anti-vampire Fellowship of the Sun or the Maenad.
Viewers can then upload a photo that will transform as you progress through the season, for example, a vampire will grow more pale as you move through each episode.
Now, I don’t have a Blu-ray player yet… yeah, yeah… Get with the times, you say, but this right here is reason enough for me to invest in one, which is exactly why they’re adding more exciting features like this to Blu-ray only.
And releasing the DVDs just weeks before the new season kicks off on HBO… genius, I say. Pure genius!
