I discovered this weekend, thanks to ABC, that I didn’t really need to watch the first five seasons of Lost to understand what was going on. I watched the two hour recap before the finale, then tuned in with the rest of the world to see how it ended. I actually felt like I knew what went it was all about, which really means I probably have no idea at all.

Overall, I liked what I saw, and will definitely be dropping the big bucks on the entire series box set once it comes out so we can watch it again and again. I understood what compelled everyone to invest their time in it, and even wished for a second that I had been hip enough to get in on the excitement while it was on.

Even my fifteen-year-old was getting into it, asking questions while unable to unglue her eyes from the set.

Finally she decided, “We have to watch this show marathon style.”

After the local news, we watched the Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to Lost show, which was pretty fun. I love Kimmel, and do think he was the perfect host for such a fantastic tribute. The cast reunions were really touching, with just the right amount of comedic fodder to make staying up until after 1 a.m. well worth it.

I especially liked the alternative endings. If you weren’t able to stay up late and watch Kimmel’s tribute, I embedded the alternative endings so you can sneak a chuckle or two at work.

Shh. I won’t tell your boss if you don’t.
