I find myself regularly asking, is there anything The Shat can’t do? He acts, he sings, he interviews, he tells jokes and he even writes fiction. Yes, you heard me. Our Shaturday hero has written fiction for over twenty years, authoring the science fiction series TekWar, about an addictive, mind-altering digital drug in the 22nd century.
Shatner began writing the outline for the series of novels while on the set of the fifth Star Trek movie, his vision being to combine elements of Star Trek with T.J. Hooker. How mindbogglingly cool is that?
Over a span of two decades, the Shat wrote nine novels in the series, had a video game created, a trading card game, a comic book series and a television franchise.
Gene Simmons, the godfather of marketing everything from his tongue to his helmet-like hair, could take some marketing tips from Shatner.
The Shat was talking about TekWar earlier this week on Twitter, so it made me long for some crazy science fiction T.J. Hooker. Since it’s my birthday, I will be running out today to pick up a little gift for myself. Volume One of the graphic novel imprint to add to my Shatner collection.
Happy birthday to me!
