I am not all crazy into politics, and rarely pay attention to what the different parties argue about. There are people who think I’m an idiot because I don’t know what’s going on on the small political scale most of the time. I don’t tune in to CNN or FOX News for the great debates, but when I saw this video, I had to laugh.
I hear people talk all the time how much easier life would be if we returned to a barter system based on our skills. Go to the doctor and offer to write him a song for his 50th wedding anniversary in return for treatment. Paint the pharmacists fence for your prescriptions. Tune the grocer’s piano for a pack of chicken nuggets and some french fries…
Yes, it sounds very silly.
I realize that, but there are a lot of people who’s primary skills in life get ignored because they are forced to work at McDonald’s or in an office to make ends meet. It’s a shame, and what’s worse is that most of them struggle to make ends meet, all the while ignoring their dream for something greater.
Now the point is, this debate with Sue Lowden went back in time about ten years ago. Lowden was on a talk show going over her thoughts on the barter system, and how you could pay the doctor with a chicken. (HA! I wish!) She is then seen on another show talking about the system again, noting she won’t back down from it. The funny thing is her appearance on TPMtv.
She claims her remarks were taken out of context, and that she never said she was backing down from the system, even though the clip shows that she did, indeed, say “I am not backing down from that system.”
Politicians. I love how they lie right to your face, even though you have the evidence right there. It’s worse than arguing with my dad over something I read in the encyclopedia that he swears is a lie.
