The CW has been holding its lips tight in regards to the news that season ten of their hit series, Smallville, would be the last. Tom Welling was scheduled to reveal the information at CW’s upfront presentation on Thursday, May 20, but Welling slipped and revealed the news to the press at a Jerry Weintraub book release party May 18.

Oops.

Welling revealed the information to HollywoodLife.com, saying, “Season 10 of Smallville will be the last season.”

In all honesty, I thought Smallville got canceled years ago, and that every Friday night it was reruns that kept drawing my parents back to the CW. Just goes to show how much I pay attention. I know, and I call myself a comic book lover.

The season nine finale aired Friday, May 14, looking toward the year 2013.

It suggested that after saving the world from imminent destruction, Clark Kent received his Superman suit, but since it was only reflected in his eye, more will be revealed in the final season.

People love Superman, and there are a lot of fans disappointed to see the series come to a close, but all good things must end. Except for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Season eight lives on, albeit in comic book form, but maybe they can do the same thing with Smallville.
