Every Saturday, I co-host a roundtable discussion podcast called Podcaturday, where we talk a whole lot about very little of consequence. One of our discussion topics this past Saturday centered on Alec Baldwin and Tom Petty appearing on Saturday Night Live together, and how the two entities have been on the show so many times, turning on your television in the middle of the episode might make you feel as though you’d gone back in time.
It was a big weekend for Baldwin, who managed to tie Steve Martin’s Saturday Night Live hosting record, returning as host for the fifteenth time. Some of my favorite episodes as a teen and early adult were hosted by Alec Baldwin, so I was definitely looking forward to watching.
And then I saw the “Timecrowave” skit, and it tied in perfectly with our podcast: Alec Baldwin, time travel and Saturday Night Live.
Physicists have been toying with the idea of real time travel for decades, admitting that it is possible, but in such difficult terms people like you and me have a hard time making heads or tales of what their saying.
Fortunately, this skit not only covers the dangers of time travel, but it presents the concept in hilarious terms even I can understand.
If you happened to miss Alec Baldwin’s history-making season finale of Saturday Night Live, don’t worry. The Timecrowave will take us all back in time and cook our food for us before we even think about making it. How convenient is that?
