It seems as though there are more television series being canceled every day. Comedy Central canceled The Sarah Silverman Program; Fox is debating which of its shows to cancel; NBC will most likely cancel Heroes and has already confirmed the cancellation of Law and Order; ABC canceled FlashForward…the shows just keep getting canceled.

Get ready to move seven CBS shows to the “canceled” list. That’s right—seven! Four dramas and two comedies are being dropped. The unlucky canceled shows are Cold Case, Numb3rs, Ghost Whisperer (who didn’t see that coming? I, for one, can’t take Jennifer Love Hewitt seriously), Miami Medical, Accidentally on Purpose, New Adventures of Old Christine, and Gary Unmarried.

Among the canceled are both veteran shows and shows that are in their first season. It just seems as if CBS’s line-up is looking grim all around.

I have to say that I’m not severely affected by this list. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever watched an entire episode of any of the series listed above. That’s pretty sad.

A reporter from The Hollywood Reporter summed it up nicely: “Several of these titles could have easily returned and, indeed, were expected to return. The harsh verdicts will signal to ad buyers that TV’s ‘most-watched network’ is not being complacent and that executives have faith in their new shows.”

I still think it’s a rash move to make…even though I won’t have any sleepless nights because of missing any of the canceled shows.
