I have seen a lot of absurd things in my thirty-five years on this planet. Everybody Loves Raymond, for instance, and nine different spin-offs from the original Law & Order.

This morning, all of the absurdity I have ever know was finally trumped by the Law & Order: SVU interpretive dance video.

I am not completely sure we needed an interpretive dance of the series’ introduction, but that’s the beautiful thing about the world we live in. People give us things we don’t need all the time, all too often ignoring the things we do need.

For example, I would have liked to have seen the True Blood theme song interpreted in dance by Alexander Skarsgard. In fact, I am more than certain that is not just a want, but a need.

The world also needs more William Shatner theme parks and television shows hosted by Betty White. It needs more Star Wars with Darth Vader, and less with both versions of Anakin Skywalker. It needs more sleeping bags shaped like sharks and Tauntauns, and less Law & Order.

Less Law & Order is going to happen, now that NBC’s decided to cancel the original series after twenty-years on the air. Maybe they should have interpreted the cancellation decision in dance. Now that would have been something funny.
