Oh, Sarah Silverman. It looks as though you have joined the ranks of shows that get canceled before their time. Comedy Central has officially canceled The Sarah Silverman Program after three seasons…even though a Twitter campaign desperately tried to save it.

Silverman won a lead actress nomination for her work on the show just last year. While this adds to the surprise of the cancellation, there were signs that it was on its way out. In 2009, the show almost got canceled when Silverman along with executive producers Rob Schrab and Dan Sterling threatened to quit after Comedy Central asked them to cut the show’s budget by more than 20%. However, sister network Logo was able to co-finance The Sarah Silverman Program, keeping it on for a third (and final) season.

Midway through the third season, the show was bumped from its 10:30 p.m. spot to midnight. Hint, hint, guys. This was a huge foreshadowing in the upcoming cancellation.

But don’t worry about Silverman! She’s still doing her thing, promoting her book The Bedwetter (I read an excerpt and almost peed myself, it was so funny) and will co-star in the upcoming film Take This Waltz. I’ll be keeping my eye on you, Sarah.
