The power of Facebook was so strong, it compelled the producers of Saturday Night Live to finally invite Betty White to host the series. Decades on the air, and SNL never had White on the show. It’s a travesty, but it’s been righted now, and I will move on to more pressing matters.
The Facebook campaigners are at it again, and this time they’ve set up a group on the social networking site to get Betty White to host the Academy Awards.
Her brand of humor, many are saying, is what America is all about. She’s classy and funny without being too over the top, or relying on obscure nonsense to get her chuckles.
As of May 11, there are over 13,800 fans of the campaign, and the number crawls slowly every hour.
The original Saturday Night Live campaign drew in over 500,000 fans, numbers compelling enough to sway the network.
I’m not sure how much sway the people have over the Academy Awards, which I don’t watch because I’m lame like that, but if Betty White was hosting, I’d give up my lame boycott just for her.
So if you love Betty White, and you’d like to see more of her, why not join the Facebook fan group campaign and let the producers of the Academy Awards know you want to see her as hostess.
