The much-anticipated Betty White, Mother’s Day episode of Saturday Night Live aired Saturday, May 8, after a massive Facebook campaign launched to bring the Golden Girl to host the comedy series.

In her monologue, White addressed the Facebook campaign, admitting she personally didn’t have time in her own life to play around on the Internet’s social media site. She was grateful, however, for the support, and looked forward to participating in Saturday Night Live for the first time in her extensive acting career.

Perhaps one of the most anticipated Saturday Night Live hosts in years, 88-year-old White proved to viewers that she’s still got a funny bone, and is 100% dedicated to making audiences laugh.

NBC reports White’s appearance on Saturday Night Live saw the show’s highest ratings in over eighteen-months, almost reaching the ratings numbers from the pre-election episode starring Ben Affleck on November 1, 2008.

If you missed the episode, you can catch it on Hulu.com, along with a series of bonus clips the network didn’t have time to air. Bonus clips include a special appearance by White as series regular character, Debbie Downer’s, grandmother and a guest shot on “Brooklyn Beat.”

How can you not love Betty white? She’s one of the funniest people alive, and I for one am glad she finally got her due on Saturday Night Live.
