Note: William Shatner is an international icon who has been streaming into our living rooms for almost sixty years. I petitioned the U.N. to mandate an international holiday in his honor, but no one will return my calls. I’ve had to take matters into my own hands here, so from this day forward, I dub every Saturday here on Real TV Addict: SHATURDAY!
You know how people are always saying forty is the new twenty? Because people are living longer than ever, and more active in their later years, twenty is no longer the prime of one’s life. For example, did you know William Shatner turned 79 this last March? Our noble hero is nearly 80-years-old, and he is still one of the most active people in Hollywood.
I’m starting to think eighty may be the new forty!
So, what is The Shat up to this week? Apparently, he’s looking for ways to stretch an invisible $600-million, after a false rumor leaked out that he made that much. According to his Twitter stream, he’s got hundreds of fake nieces and nephews coming out of the woodwork. Uncle Bill, I don’t need any money. Just knowing you care about me is more than enough!
He is also kicking off a new series on A&E’s BIO Channel called Shatner’s Aftermath. In a similar vein to his celebrity interview series titled Shatner’s Raw Nerve, Aftermath will explore common people who soared into the spotlight and became overnight celebrity successes. The series, which will include six episodes, is slated to release in the autumn 2010 season, while Raw Nerve returns in the winter.
Is it wrong of me to want to become an overnight success so I can be interviewed by The Shat? Even if it is, I think I’ll start a campaign. Get behind me, start sending out petitions. Let’s. . . do. . . this. . . thing!
If you’ve never seen Raw Nerve, here’s a little clip from Uncle Bill’s interview with my favorite porn star, the lovely Jenna Jameson. Be sure to watch all the way to the end of the clip for a preview, when Jameson starts talking about how she loves sex and men, to get a look at Shatner’s face. Perplexed, intrigued, and obviously trying very hard not to raise his eyebrows.
