Apparently Michael Bay heard the desperate cries of women everywhere who are subjected to the Transformers movies with only Tyrese and Josh Duhamel to distract them.

Patrick Dempsey has revealed to reporters that he has joined the cast of Transformers 3. His character will be Megan Fox’s boss in the upcoming film and Dempsey reveals that he’s “a darker character.”  According to Access Hollywood, “Dempsey’s character is said to be very important to the drama in the third film.”

Dempsey is another on the list of recent actor additions to the Michael Bay series that has many people wondering what the heck is going on.  John Malkovich and Frances McDormand joined the cast back in March.

While it’s not reported exactly what their roles will be, it left many stunned as to how such high profile actors could join the popular franchise.

Honestly I believe it all comes down to money. Both Transformers, despite being critically panned just about everywhere, still raked in the money hand over fist.  My husband loved the films and our household contributed the the film and DVD sales the franchise brought in.  The movies are popular enough that they don’t need high profile actors to bring in even more sales, but it is an added bonus.  I will never be upset at an actor for taking a paying gig.  Acting is a job just like any other.

Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox are set to return to their roles along with Tyrese Gibson, Kevin Dunn and Julie White.    Transformers 3 will air in theaters July 1, 2011.
