NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor was arrested Thursday, May 6, 2010, on implications of felony rape. The incident was said to have taken place early Thursday morning, just outside of New York City. The victim was a 15-year-old runaway, and Taylor allegedly raped and physically assaulted her. There is some implication that the teenage girl involved was a prostitute, and reports say she ran away from home back in March of this year.
She was punched in the face, but at this time there is no evidence at this time that it was Taylor who hit her.
Taylor was taken into custody just outside a Holiday Inn hotel in Rockland, New York, but Lieutenant Brad Weidel told the press that the former New York Giants linebacker and Dancing with the Stars contestant had not yet been formally charged in the incident. If he is charged, the third degree rape charges will also include having sex with a minor.
This is not the first time 51-year-old Taylor has been in the news for inappropriate conduct and behavior since his retirement. Since his retirement from the NFL in the 1990s, Taylor has struggled with drug abuse and addiction. His most recent run-in with the law occurred back in November, when he left the scene of an accident.
