I’m not sure why this is news, or even shocking. It seems to be the cool thing to do when you’re a hot celebrity looking for more exposure. Pamela Anderson did it. Paris Hilton did it. Given Kendra Wilkinson’s history since she emerged into the spotlight as one of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends at the Playboy Mansion while starring in Girls Next Door, I’m not the least bit surprised Wilkinson’s got a sex tape.

Seriously though. It’s an unspoken rule, especially if you’re a celebrity. If you don’t want the world to watch you having sex, don’t record it. In fact, if I were a celebrity, I would be doing an X-Files-style sweep of every room before crawling into bed just to make sure there were no hidden cameras on the premises.

Vivid Entertainment, the distribution company who plans to market Wilkinson’s sexcapades to the world, claimed the video was brought to them by a third party, and they have not been able to contact Wilkinson. After reviewing it with their attorneys, they are confident they will be able to distribute the video without legal repercussions. Wilkinson’s attorney, however, is doing everything they can to stop the release of the video, which Vivid plans to do at the end of May under the title “Kendra Exposed.”

The 24-year-old reality star/model knew about the video, but claims she recorded it with a man she trusted.

Wilkinson is currently married to Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver, Hank Baskett, and the couple just welcomed a new baby into their family back in December 2009.

As a mother, having children would be reason enough for me not to want videos of me out there having sex, but then Wilkinson’s posed for Playboy Magazine a number of times, so who knows what she really wants. I tend to be on the skeptical side whenever these videos surface, believing the people starring in them are looking for a publicity boost.

I know, I know. Shame on me. She’s a victim in this whole fiasco.
