Craig Kilborn’s coming back to the small screen!

You remember him right? He hosted The Daily Show before Jon Stewart.  Still drawing a blank?  Okay, well he was the host of the Late Late Show before Craig Ferguson.  Still nothing?  Ah, it’ll come to you.

Kilborn started his television career at ESPN, where he was known for his witty comments as an anchor of Sportscenter.  He moved over to host The Daily Show on Comedy Central, where he stayed for three years. The show wasn’t nearly as politically oriented then as it is now.  After that, he left for broadcast television in 1999 and hosted the Late Late Show on CBS until 2004.  Many were shocked when he left his post and not much has been heard from him since (though he did have a small role in Old School).

The new show, which either hasn’t been named yet, will be airing early evenings on FOX.

There’s no real set time yet as FOX will be syndicating the show this summer in major markets like Los Angeles and New York.

Will people watch an early evening talk show?  Despite the urgings of many “get fit” type of commercials, many folks still sit and eat dinner in front of the television.  Would they rather watch game shows, sitcoms, or talk shows?

I know growing up it was always Jeopardy and sitcoms.  Now it’s watching Bones with my husband.  I’m sure there are many others who had or have similar experiences in their homes.  So will this even work?

Craig Kilborn’s a funny guy.  He deserves a late show to compete with the others, which is what FOX wanted in the first place.  Give the man a chance, folks.
