Craig Kilborn’s coming back to the small screen!
You remember him right? He hosted The Daily Show before Jon Stewart. Still drawing a blank? Okay, well he was the host of the Late Late Show before Craig Ferguson. Still nothing? Ah, it’ll come to you.
Kilborn started his television career at ESPN, where he was known for his witty comments as an anchor of Sportscenter. He moved over to host The Daily Show on Comedy Central, where he stayed for three years. The show wasn’t nearly as politically oriented then as it is now. After that, he left for broadcast television in 1999 and hosted the Late Late Show on CBS until 2004. Many were shocked when he left his post and not much has been heard from him since (though he did have a small role in Old School).
The new show, which either hasn’t been named yet, will be airing early evenings on FOX.
There’s no real set time yet as FOX will be syndicating the show this summer in major markets like Los Angeles and New York.
Will people watch an early evening talk show? Despite the urgings of many “get fit” type of commercials, many folks still sit and eat dinner in front of the television. Would they rather watch game shows, sitcoms, or talk shows?
I know growing up it was always Jeopardy and sitcoms. Now it’s watching Bones with my husband. I’m sure there are many others who had or have similar experiences in their homes. So will this even work?
Craig Kilborn’s a funny guy. He deserves a late show to compete with the others, which is what FOX wanted in the first place. Give the man a chance, folks.

double pits to Kilborn.... the only guy I know who takes cheap shots at Conan. What did he do to deserve another show?? Is he just keeping the seat warm for real talent like he did at his last two gigs?

RE: "The new show, which either hasn’t been named yet, will be airing early evenings on FOX." Working title is "The Kilborn File." It's syndicated and thus could be broadcast at ANY time of day (or night). In most of the half-dozen or so markets where it's 6-week "test run" takes place, it's suggested that it be paired with TMZ -- as they are, presumably, cut from the same cloth.

I'm glad to hear this, but I don't know how this will work out yet. Kilborn has that '90s style of comedy that's kind of dry and stylish, but it's not the '90s anymore unfortunately. I hope this show is a success though

Never heard of Kilborn?? He only had the best late night talk show in the history of the medium. Yeah he was a bit of an acquired taste and some people thought he was arrogant (he was, but don't kid yourself, so are Leno and Letterman), but he was hipper and funnier than those two put together. I refused to watch his successor on the Late Late Show because I knew no one would ever be able to top him.

Wow! It's about time!!! I'm a big fan of the "Craigers" I get up early for work; but would sometimes set an alarm to wake up, watch the show---then go back to sleep! I hated that he left the show, and was sure no one could take his place! I watched some of the guest hosts in dismay and just happened to catch the show in which Craig Furgeson announced that he was chosen as the new host. I had mixed feelings; but---after all his name is CRAIG!!! I was ready to give him a chance. He's great; I like his wacky, off-beat style. Saying all that---I am anxious for C.K.'s return to TV!!! I will tape his show if I haveto; but I will watch!!! I wish him the very best; and await news of his comeback!

I like Craig Kilborn but don't think an early pm talk show will work. curious what he has been doing since 04. he has a sharp wit and is nice to look at. I think he should go back to espn and sportscenter. talk shows are tough bonnie hunt is hysterical and her show was great but it has been cxl'd. tv is tough
