Julia Louis-Dreyfus of Seinfeld and The New Adventures of Old Christine fame was the first of the Seinfeld crew to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Exciting stuff for the star, but sadly, whoever crafted her Hollywood Star misspelled the actresses name.
Instead of Julia Louis-Dreyfus, it read Julia Luis-Dreyfus. Talk about a Seinfeldian faux pas ripe for the plucking. She even asked the committee to leave the misspelled star in place, but alas, they refused and plan to make things right.
Louis-Dreyfus thought it was funny, stating, “The misspelling was so perfectly apt, a great metaphor for show business. Right when you think you’ve made it, you get knocked down,” she continues.
“It’s an ideal metaphor for how this business works.”
The last actor to have their name misspelled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was Dick Van Dyke in 1993, so at least she’s in good company.
Attending the Walk of Fame ceremony were cast members from Seinfeld and The New Adventures of Old Christine, including Jason Alexander and Seinfeld co-creator Larry David.
Louis-Dreyfus will get the mis-spelled star as a souvenir from the committee. Maybe she should re-tile her bathroom floor, adding it right in front of the toilet. That’s what I’d do, anyway.
