On May 4, ABC announced that they were adding an extra half-hour to the Lost series finale, which is scheduled to air May 23, 2010, at 9 p.m. ET. The show will not end now until 11:30 p.m., pushing local news back, and postponing the Jimmy Kimmel special, Aloha to Lost, until 12:05 a.m. the following morning.

ABC is planning for a huge Lost weekend, chock full of special Lost material, including an enhanced version of the two-hour pilot to air on May 22nd. The finale will be preceded by a two hour look at the entire series, “LOST: The Final Journey,” which starts at 7 p.m.

The news of an extra thirty minutes being added to the finale came just one day after co-executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof announced via Twitter, “We’re done.

Amen.”

The upcoming finale is a bittersweet event for that majority of Lost fans, especially those who have been watching the series since it first aired. Many fear that the finale will disappoint, while others are just looking forward to finally having some answers.

The finale will air on ABC May 23 at 9 p.m. ET, so let’s synchronize our DVRs to ensure that no one misses a single minute! And don’t forget to set it to record Jimmy Kimmel’s Aloha to Lost, which airs at 12:05 a.m.
