Award Winning director/screenwriter Oliver Stone and author Bruce Wagner struck up a recent deal with EPIX productions to create a one-hour drama series based on Wagner’s 2003 novel, “Still Holding.”
Stone and Wagner previously teamed up on the mini-series Wild Palms back in 1993, and in relation to the project, Stone said, “I’m interested in the possibilities in television. When a company like EPIX comes along, it’s a chance to break new ground. They want to make their mark.”
EPIX is a joint venture between VIACOM, MGM, Lion’s Gate and Paramount Pictures that launched in October 2009. The company provides premium, video-on-demand and online programming. Recent EPIX production titles include Tough Trade and iCon.
EPIX boasts a huge collection of on-demand video, with over 3,000 titles available to their online subscribers.
Still Holding will explore the lives of three Los Angeles, California residents and their desperate search for realization in a world brimming with lies and betrayal. On top of shows like Californication and the reality MTV bomb, The Hills, I find myself asking if we really need more television shows about Hollyweird, but alas, I digress. The world keeps looking to Los Angeles for the answers, so Los Angeles will keep dishing them out. After Happy Town’s tepid debut, it seems logical to keep it centered around the world entertainment hub.
Chin up, Hollyweird. You know I still love you, and I am looking forward to this Oliver Stone/Bruce Wagner collaboration.
