Starz has a new comedic series coming out, and it promises to be offensive to some viewers. Gravity focuses on suicide survivors, and that’s enough to cause some potential viewers to squirm and feel uncomfortable. I, on the other hand, think it’s a fantastic concept.

The cast is star-studded. The series follows a support group of suicide survivors including devout Catholic and widower Robert (Ivan Sergei), lonely makeup counter girl Lily (Krysten Ritter), ex-model Shawna (the gorgeous Rachel Hunter), and former major league baseball player Doug (Ving Rhames).

Actress Ritter states, “The show’s unconventional and so am I. And in every joke there’s always tragedy.” I like the way you think, Krysten.

I, too, am pretty unconventional, so shows like this attract me like white on rice.

Gravity premieres Friday, April 23rd at 10:30 p.m. EST. During the series premiere, widower Robert attempts suicide by driving off a cliff…seems pretty fail-safe, right? Wrong. Poor Robert ends up crashing into a pool on a gay cruise ship. And the dark humor begins.

All of the characters’ suicide attempts are viewed with some humor. Makeup counter girl Lily swallows a bottle of pills and then pigs out on a huge slice of chocolate cake. When she flat lines at the hospital, she falls in love with a man she sees in heaven…which is kind of odd, considering that she’s an atheist.
