Jon Stewart is hilarious…and pretty hot. So of course I paid attention when he utilized The Daily Show to comment on the censorship of South Park that occurred during the show’s 201st episode. The excessive use of bleeps and CENSORED images on South Park’s episode were due to a warning by a radical Islamic. Why were they “warned”? Because the prophet Muhammad was depicted as a character in a bear suit. Which I think is pretty funny.

Anyway, Stewart commented that Comedy Central’s censorship was to “protect their employees”; however, he came across as in favor of South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

Then the comedian went on to display how Comedy Central has made “offensive” jokes at the expense of a wide variety of religions including Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and more. So why in the world would religions begin taking these jokes seriously now? Oh, yeah. Because we’re talking about radical Islam.

Stewart brought in Daily Show correspondent, Muslim Aasif Mandvi, to comment on the censorship of the animated show. Mandvi went on to say what’s more disturbing than seeing an animated depiction of Muhammad on screen is the fact that radicals threaten others (in the name of religion) because of it. Good point, Aasif.

It’s a sad world when people can’t learn to laugh at themselves—or, in this case, at their religion.
