Lisa Kudrow is one funny gal.
Her recent foray into the world of comedy was spilled over onto the Internet. Kudrow, in conjunction with L Studio, made small Web videos of herself acting as an advice guru Fiona Wallace, dispensing therapy to friends via Webcam. As Wallace, Kudrow has given advice to stars such as Jane Lynch, Rashida Jones, and even her former Friends co-star Courtney Cox Arquette. The series is named Web Therapy.
The Webisodes have been very popular; popular enough to catch the eye of the network Showtime who has picked up the series and plans to air the small ten minute segments on the small screen. New content will be added to the segments to fill out full half hour episodes. The 45 episode series will debut on Showtime some time later this year.
“I’m a huge Lisa Kudrow fan, and I think it’s a clever show she’s put together,” said Robert Greenblatt, Showtime entertainment president. “It’s a great little coup for us.”
Will the series survive the small-but-yet-bigger screen move? No one knows for sure, but Kudrow has a huge following of fans who have loved her since her Friends days. If the show continues to bring in popular stars (if they got Jane Lynch, why not the whole cast of Glee?), I have no doubts it will bring Showtime some prime viewership.
