This last weekend was so beautiful that I was sad to see it go. So what happened while we were all staring outside at the flowers?
If you’re a fan of Lady Gaga or American Idol, this is for you. The uniquely dressed pop star is set to appear on the music competition show on May 5. ”See you on American Idol. MAY 5th, Little Monsters,” tweeted Gaga on Friday. The tweet also linked to a YouTube video of Gaga’s recent hit Telephone, which she sings with Beyonce. There’s no word as to whether Beyonce will join Gaga on the American Idol stage.
Speaking of American Idol, Ryan Seacrest confirmed this weekend that Crystal Bowersox, the apparent front-runner for the show, at one point thought about quitting.
Seacrest found Bowersox in the parking lot ready to leave because she missed her son so much. ”The greatest thing I ever did was make enough money so I could buy my mom a house,” Seacrest recalled telling her. “You can buy your mom a house.” Bowersox stated on the American Idol Facebook page, “We all have moments of doubt. As much as I miss my kid, the big picture is this: I’m doing this for him and my fans. I’m having the time of my life!”
On the romantic front, Christina Applegate is now engaged to longtime boyfriend Martyn LeNoble, founder of the alt-rock band Porno for Pyros. Applegate, 38, said to The Huffington Post, “He’s been a friend for about 13 years. Our relationship gets stronger and stronger. I’m really lucky. I’m very grateful to Martyn for coming along at a time that he did because he’s been my rock through all of this. He gave me something to really want to live for and something to smile about.” This will be the second marriage for both involved.
Apparently this weekend was the time for show renewals. Burn Notice has received a rare two season renewal for its fifth and sixth seasons despite the fact that the fourth season hasn’t finished filming yet. This shows an incredible amount of faith on USA Network’s part, but based on the ratings for the show (the mid-season finale brought in 7.6 million viewers) their faith is well grounded. Cash Cab was renewed on The Discovery Channel for a sixth season, so if you’re looking for a cab in New York City, there’s a chance you can win some good money. Host Ben Bailey will be returning to pilot unsuspecting passengers around the city, asking trivia questions that, if answered correctly, get the passengers cash.
To end on a high note (get it?), the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards happened this weekend! Carrie Underwood walked away with a second Entertainer of the Year award, making her the first woman to win the award consecutively. Lady Antebellum took Best Single, Best Song, and Vocal Group of the Year. Surprisingly (or not depending on who you are) Taylor Swift did not win a single category.
That wraps it up for this weekend! Tune in next week to find out what happened while you were hoping for the warmth to come back!
