William Shatner has agreed to host a new show for The Discovery Channel named Weird or What.

According to Variety, “It will examine and analyze some of the weirdest unsolved cases around the world — ranging from paranormal phenomena, medical oddities and bizarre natural disasters.”  When Shatner announced his hosting of the show, he claimed that the show is aiming to reinvent the science genre.

“We’re looking at weird circumstances but we’re presenting them in a light-hearted, jaunty way,” said Shatner. “We’re not taking ourselves too seriously.”

In addition to hosting the show, Shatner is on the list of executive producers along with CEO of Cineflix Programming Simon Lloyd, and Cineflix’s Rod Parker.

The show will be shown at prime time on The Discovery Channel in the U.S. and on The History Channel in Shatner’s home country of Canada.

EW’s Mandi Bierly says, “I’m all for this because it reminds me of his Emmy-nominated documentary How William Shatner Changed the World.”

How William Shatner will fit this in with his filming for Shit My Dad Says should the pilot be picked up for broadcast is unclear at this time, but it’s apparent to me that William Shatner has just taken one step closer to his inevitable conquest of the world.
