Anyone who ever doubted that cats are the most intelligent species on the planet may have to reconsider this morning after watching Iggy the cat explore his owner’s iPad.
I have seen cats do a lot of amazing things. We’ve all witnessed the hilarity often shown on America’s Funniest Home Videos of cats chasing flashlight beams, or watching fish swim inside a tank. While talking to my fiance on video chat, I’ve often wondered if his cat, who is prone to standing in front of the screen and staring at me, could actually see me.
Watching Iggy chase the images around and play the piano on this iPad gave me a whole new perspective on cats. The next time I think our cat is watching TV, I’m not going to doubt it anymore. Maybe Apple’s next big project should be the iPet: an iPad like device designed just to entertain pets.
My one warning, dear owner of Iggy the Cat: be careful with your iTunes store. Next thing you know Iggy will be downloading Disney’s Aristocats and all his favorite shows from Animal Planet while you’re at work. I’d also check your recent download history for signs of America’s Funniest Home Videos and Garfield.
