TV doctors range from teenage geniuses to Army personnel forced to make things work with little to no supplies. Since I was a small child, I have loved TV doctors in all shapes and sizes. In this list I had to restrict myself to one doctor from each show.
1. Dr. Benjamin Franklin “Hawkeye” Pierce (M*A*S*H)

Hawkeye (Alan Alda) was the quick witted surgeon on M*A*S*H that saved lives and still had time to make us all laugh. Looking back, Hawkeye was the first doctor I ever remember seeing on TV.
2. Dr. Jack Shephard (Lost)

Matthew Fox plays Dr. Shephard and he is the one doctor we all want to be stranded on a deserted island with. Being Lost didn’t stop this guy from doing his duty.
3. Dr.
Gregory House (House)

Hugh Laurie plays Dr Gregory House. House is loud, opinionated, and at times brilliant. House plays by his own rules with little regard to anyone else.
4. Dr. Phillip Chandler (St. Elsewhere)

Denzel Washington got his start in the industry as the resident Dr. Phillip Chandler. This role gave Denzel the boost he needed to become a star.
5. Dr. Frasier Crane (Cheers and Frasier)

Dr. Crane (Kelsey Grammer) is the snobby Seattle psychiatrist that started off in a Boston bar. Kelsey was able to create a long career out of this doctor’s life.
6. Dr. Doug Ross (ER)

Dr. Ross (George Clooney) was the ER pediatrician that was as good operating with the ladies as he was on the kids
7. Dr. Douglas “Doogie” Howser (Doogie Howser, M.D.)

Doogie (Neil Patrick Harris) was the genius that became a doctor at 12. Doogie faced all the challenges of teens while he was working as a doctor.
8. Dr. Miranda Bailey (Grey’s Anatomy)

Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) is the driving force at Seatle Grace. She is Kind and loving but has a thick exterior to protect herself and the doctors at the hospital.
9. Dr. Dana Scully (The X Files)

Dr Dana Scully, played by Gillian Anderson, was the yin to Molder’s yang. Scully keep Molder grounded as they travel the country looking for answers.
10. Dr. Cliff Huxtable (The Cosby Show)

Dr. Heathcliff Huxtable(Bill Cosby) was a sweater wearing family man. This super dad balanced work and home life with relative ease.
Honorable Mention
Dr. Julius Hibbert (The Simpsons)

Dr. Hibbert, voiced by Harry Sheerer, is one of the few doctors that have been on TV for 20 yrs and that deserves some credit. Dr. Hibbert knows that laughter is always the best medicine.
Doctors are fascinating to watch and we can’t seem to get enough of the drama that surrounds these physicans.

Am I the only one thinking that Denzel Washington and George Clooney have only gotten more handsome with age?

Am I the only one wondering where Doctors Welby,Kildare,Casey, and McCoy are? I'm sure I missed some(Doc Adams from Gunsmoke comes to mind) I guess this list is for the 80s to the 2000s. Sadly, many of the best TV doctors were left offthe list.

Yes, I agree that Hawkeye Pierce is the best tv doctor ever! If only there were more doctors out there like him, the world would be a better place! I also find Dr. Hibbert amusing.
