Are you ready for the next installment of the Roman Empire Law & Order?
Deadline.com reports that creator Dick Wolf is set to expand his Law & Order universe with Law & Order: Los Angeles. NBC has apparently picked up the new series with a 13 episode order for this fall. Blake Masters (creator of Brotherhood) is set to help Wolf in the writing room.
Law & Order: SVU is ready for its 12th season (pending a few minor budget matters). Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni both signed a one year deal with NBC last spring after lengthy negotiations and the deal included an option for a second year. The full cast is expected to return. SVU suffered a sharp decline in ratings after being moved to accommodate Jay Leno’s show, but after being moved back to their 10 p.m.
slot, the show has prospered.
The original Law & Order looks pretty good for its 21st season despite S. Epatha Merkerson asking for a release from the show. Merkerson did not have a deal beyond the 20th season, but Merkerson has decided the time has come to focus on new projects. TNT (the show’s cable home) is expected to help pitch in with costs in order to bring the show back on the air.
With Law & Order: Criminal Intent coming back to USA for a 9th season (after a cast overhaul), that would have four Law & Order shows airing airing new episodes at the same time.
Does Dick Wolf have his golden palace yet? The man should by now.
