Lead-singer of the band Poison, and star of Rock of Love, Bret Michaels, was taken to the hospital on Sunday, April 11, 2010, just before he was scheduled to appear on stage in San Antonio, Texas.

Michaels complained of stomach pains and flu-like symptoms, and was urged by doctors to go to the hospital for a diagnoses. After being diagnosed with acute appendicitis, the reality TV/rock star was rushed into surgery for an emergency appendectomy around 1 AM Monday morning.

Since 47-year-old Michaels is a known-diabetic, there was some concern about his recovery, but a statement was issued by Michaels’ people, noting that he was recovering in an undisclosed hospital and would be back on his feet in no time.

Unfortunately for fans, a number of his April tour dates were canceled, but rescheduled dates will be shared via his website once they are available.

Michaels is also a current contestant on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice, and there is no information on how his surgery will affect his ability to compete against the remaining celebrities in the Trump pool. After Michael Johnson’s recent departure for persona reasons, I expect Trump will tell Michaels to show up, or get out. Trump just seems to be that kind of guy.

Get well soon, Bret! Your fans are sending good thoughts and energy your way.
