There seems to be some confusion buzzing around the ‘Net this morning about whether or not Donald Trump fired former-track star Michael Johnson, or Johnson quit Celebrity Apprentice.

Johnson actually decided it was best for him to leave the contest early, claiming he had a personal family matter to attend to. While Johnson did not reveal the nature of his personal family matter in full, he did note that it had to do with his son.

After explaining his circumstances to Trump, he said that he may be able to return to the competition after the matter is resolved, but Trump told him it wouldn’t be fair to the other contestants.

Michael Johnson is an Olympic Gold Medal winner, and currently holds the world record for the 400 meter and 4X400 meter relay.

He was inducted into the Track and Field hall of fame in 2004, and retired from athletics in 2008.

Last night’s competition had the competitors creating a commercial for Right Guard deodorant. Johnson’s departure leaves only three men in the competition, and at the end of the show, Selita Ebanks was fired from the show. Curtis Stone won the current round, and his charity, Feed America, was awarded $20,000.

Note: My apologies for the confusion and misinformation. After reviewing the episode, this article has been edited to reflect Trump’s actual decision not to allow Johnson to return if he left. To view the full episode video, visit the official NBC Celebrity Apprentice website.
