I watch The Ellen Show every single morning, and was surprised the other day when she featured footage from Family Feud asking the players to name everything they knew about Ellen DeGeneres. They got all the basics down. She’s gay. She’s married. She likes to Dance. She has her own show. She’s an actress.

When the host came back around to the head of the family, he said, “She doesn’t like our country very well.”

Imagine Ellen’s shock and surprise to learn she didn’t like her country. In all the years I’ve been a fan of Ellen DeGeneres, I’ve never really heard her say she didn’t like America. Have you? Of course, maybe he was confusing her with someone else, like Sinead O’Connor or something. I don’t know. Maybe she said something once that was misinterpreted as anti-patriotism. It’s hard to tell in this day and age when saying, “I don’t like McDonald’s” could mean you’re anti-American.

After playing the footage on the show, she joked about it. Said she was going to get Dish Network to add her love for America to their television descriptions. In fact, why not just put it in the listing that Ellen DeGeneres loves the planet. As as member of the planet, I want to say thanks! I love you too, Ellen.
