You might want to think twice before you log in to your Facebook account this morning, especially after last night’s South Park episode. I have never been a big South Park fan, which will probably evoke ridicule and derision from the massive viewing audience out there who loves the show.

When Kyle friends the wrong kid on Facebook, all of his other friends desert him. Stan, on the other hand, wants nothing to do with Facebook, but his friends and family keep pushing him to comply. Eventually he winds up in inside Facebook, which turns out to look a lot like Tron, in an epic Yahtzee battle.

I will say I thought the episode was funny in its own right because of the way it made fun of social media.

With so many of us now staying connected to not only our real-life friends and family, but our ‘Net friends via tools like Twitter, Facebook, Digg, MySpace and LinkedIn, it was only a matter of time before the South Park crew got on our case about it. After all, that’s what they do.

In case you missed the episode, and have no idea what I’m talking about, you can check out a clip at the end of this post, or watch the full episode on the official site. After you finish watching it, I’d love to hear what you think. Are we too reliant on social media to stay connected to the world? Can we still communicate with actual human beings in a non-Tron-like world and setting without resorting to netspeak and chit-chat about the latest viral video and Cheezburger Cat?

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check my @ replies on Twitter. I don’t wanna miss a thing this morning.
