Fox News Network hostess of the series Countdown to the Closing Bell, Liz Claman sat down on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart yesterday to talk about Wall Street.

Stewart dove in right away, asking Claman to tell the truth, “Is the recession really over?” She explained to Stewart how economists determine the end of the recession, but also expressed the unlikelihood, as there are still so many people unemployed.

Claman also analyzed Wall Street and banking for Stewart, comparing it to a casino where the bankers invest and invest to their heart’s content, but when they lose their money, the dishwashers (everyday people) pay for their mistakes. She’s refusing to pay for their mistakes any longer, and insists that if they just set aside a rainy day fund, they could invest all they wanted without the risk of absolute loss.

Vanity Fair once described Claman as one of the top business anchors on TV, as Claman has hosted numerous business news series throughout the course of her career, including Market Watch and Today’s Business on CNBC.

For those out there unemployed, laid off, or not seeing the crunch from the recession lift in their own household, this is an interesting interview that got me thinking. Of course, it also made me want to go to Vegas.
