Actor Chad Lowe will be joining the cast of ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars, which is scheduled to debut in June. Lowe will be taking over the part of Aria’s father, which was played by Alexis Denisof in the pilot of the series.

Pretty Little Liars is a television adaptation of a series of novels young adult novels by Sara Shepard that follows the lives of four young girls in the throes of social competition. The series kicks off with the group receiving a strange messages from an old friend who disappeared under mysterious circumstances three years prior.

Hot on the heels of successful teen series like Secret Life of the American Teenager and The Vampire Diaries, “Publisher’s Weekly” describes the upcoming series as Desperate Housewives for teenagers, and will star Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Troian Bellisario and Ashley Benson.

Younger brother of Rob Lowe, Chad Lowe is an award-winning actor who has appeared in numerous television series over the years, including the starring role in Life Goes On and appearances i ER, Melrose Place and 24.
