Jay Leno recently appeared on The Joy Behar Show, where he sat down to talk with Behar about the recent NBC late night television debacle with Conan O’Brien.
Leno believes that O’Brien will come back strong, and make himself a hard competitor. “It should be me against Letterman, against Conan, against Kimmel, and then you see who wins,” Leno said. Does he really want to know who would win? With times changing, and younger audiences tuning in to late night before bed, there’s a strong chance O’Brien and Kimmel will win out against old-timers like Leno and Letterman.
When Behar asked Leno if he felt bad about what happened to O’Brien, Leno said, “Conan got screwed, and I got screwed.”
Really, Mr.
Leno? You got screwed? Wow. I’m speechless. Maybe all of the finger poking and mockery hurt your tender feelings a bit, but to say you got screwed? That’s just silly.
The strong reaction to NBC’s decision, and Conan O’Brien’s decision to sever his contract with NBC rallied a tremendous amount of support from viewers. Many of us anxiously await his return to late night, and hope to hear good news about his upcoming plans to meet with FOX in May.
Call me biased if you will, but I’d love to see his ratings sore once he does return. Go team Coco!

Jay absolutely got screwed. He destroyed Letterman in the ratings week in and week out for 16 years, in the process generating hundreds of millions of dollars for NBC, and got fired for it. That's not an opinion, it's a fact. Everyone seems to have forgotten that it was Conan who initiated this whole mess back in 2004 when he went to NBC execs and told them that unless he got The Tonight Show when Jay's contract expired in 2009, he was going to another network. NBC, for reasons I'll never understand, capitulated, and the rest is history.
