Will Wright is the genius behind the popular video games The Sims and Sims City. He worked on Spore which came out in 2008 but hasn’t worked on a video game since.
So what’s he been doing?
Wright has teamed up with former head of Spike TV and Nickelodeon Albie Hecht to create a television show. The series will be called The Creation Project and, while the show is not supposed to center around video games, The Creation Project promises to be interactive with its viewers.
According to IGN, ”In essence, The Creation Project is a TV series about the creation of a TV series. What we’ve seen suggests users will submit story ideas online and via mobile devices. This will lead to the users than discussing the submissions and voting for their favorite.
Finally, the winning storyline is actually produced and will air as two half-hour episodes.”
MTV thinks “it sounds like Wright may be making a bid to become the Simon Cowell of a nuanced “TV Producer Idol” type of program.” If Wright can pull off this type of television show, he just may end up being like Cowell. I just hope he develops more tact than Cowell when telling someone he doesn’t like their idea.
