Watching the local nightly news is prime material for mockery, mostly because it’s live and there is little opportunity for anchors to correct their mistakes without viewers noticing. What’s even better? When the news anchors are fooling around and somebody gets hurt.
My mom, and probably your mom too, always said, “It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt.” Unfortunately, my mom was right about that about 99% of the time, and this clip is a prime example of why we should all listen to Mom.
While leaning across the news desk to pinch the weatherman, the wheels on Texas news anchor Melanie Lawson’s chair rolled backward and the chair came out from under her. She slid under the desk, and for a second all we see is her reaching hand flailing above in the air. She starts calling out that she’s okay, but her fellow anchors could barely keep straight faces.
Good thing, as she had an important segment about Tiger Woods making a big television viewership comeback after the weather. Righting herself behind the desk, Lawson continued to insist she was fine and unhurt, but I imagine her pride took a little hit.
Fooling around on live television, pinching the weather man… it’s all fun and games until someone falls out of her chair.
