Dancing with the Stars (8:00 p.m. EST, ABC)

The favored reality show opens its tenth season with 11 couples who are scheduled to perform either the cha-cha or the Viennese waltz (if you’re like me, you know—kind of—what the waltz looks like but have no idea what the Viennese waltz is). Who are our celebrities that will be shaking their groove thang? Hottie Pamela Anderson, astronaut Butt Aldrin, bad girl Shannen Doherty, bachelor Jake Pavelka, the ever-irritating Kate Gosselin, and more. Who are you rooting for?

Nurse Jackie (10:00 p.m. EST, SHOe)

This is one of my favorite shows and I’m thrilled that the second season begins tonight. On tonight’s episode, Jackie (the incredibly talented Edie Falco) does her best to leave her affair with Eddie (Paul Schulze) behind her as she re-commits to Kevin (Dominic Fumusa) and her daughters.

However, things get a little shaky when Coop (Peter Facinelli) makes a formal complaint against the head nurse…and when there’s a narcotics shortage at the hospital. Is our lovable addict Jackie going to get caught? Meanwhile, Eddie overdoses, and Jackie’s close to flipping out. Hooray for dysfunctional relationships and drug abuse (not really, but you know what I mean).

United States of Tara (10:30 p.m. EST, SHOe)

You know me. I typically don’t try to feature two shows from the same network on my “What’s Hot Tonight” blog posts. But United States of Tara is another one of my faves, and the second season premieres tonight, right after Nurse Jackie! So I’m allowed to break my rule this once. On tonight’s episode, our favorite multiple personality disorder patient, Tara (the incredible Toni Collette), has her alters in check, so she decides that it’s time to widen her social circle and make some new friends, with Max’s (the sexy John Corbett) help. But when a neighbor commits suicide and the Gregson family is given responsibility for the deceased’s estate, things go a bit crazy. Meanwhile, Nick (Matthew Del Negro) considers marriage with Charmaine (Rosemarie DeWitt), Kate (Brie Larson) gets a new part-time job, and Marshall (Keir Gilchrist) continues having trouble fitting in.
