Since I’m not a gigantic sports fan, I was not watching March Madness.  I know, shame on me, but despite my lack of understanding about the game of basketball, I did find some interesting news from this weekend.

As I said before, Sarah Palin has been shopping around to try and sell her reality television show about life in Alaska.  It looks like A&E and Discovery are among the networks considering actually running the show, tentatively titled “Sarah Palin’s Alaska.”  The final decision will probably come down to who’s willing to fork over the most money- the former vice presidential hopeful is asking $1-1.5 million an episode.

The unsinkable Betty White has found a new show to cultivate her talents.  The TV Land show is called Hot In Cleveland, where White plays the caretaker of a house being rented out by Valerie Bertinelli (Wendie Malick and Jane Leeves play the lovable sidekicks).  The show looks like your typical sitcom, but with Betty White on board, I’m sure it’ll be a smash hit.

Rumors were flying around stating that Paula Abdul would be heading up a remake of Star Search for ABC.  While the network still plans on producing the show, Abdul will not be a part of it.  Negotiations have halted for the singer (at least for the moment) and as of right now no one knows what Abdul’s going to do next.

Last year, Rosie O’Donnell said she would not be returning to daytime television.  Apparently she’s changed her mind.  The show is set to launch in the fall of 2011, just as Oprah’s daytime show ends.  O’Donnell is working with Dick Robertson, Warner Bros. former syndication president and Scott Carlin, a former president of domestic distribution at HBO, to independently produce the show.  Whether the show will be syndicated or go to cable is dependent on O’Donnell and the content she wishes to produce, but I wish the best of luck to her.

That’s all for this week’s ‘Weekend Roundup.’  Tune in next week to find out what happened while you were watching more March Madness!
